I. Introduction
(I) Program A: Chinese Language Program
This program offers courses for different levels and curriculums, namely Elementary, Intermediate, Advanced, Pre -University as well as Intensive Training. A scientific learner-centered method with clear focus and great flexibility is adopted to enhance the communication skills of the students. A variety of activities are offered for practicing language skills and experiencing Chinese culture in authentic situations.
In order to lay a solid foundation for students in their undergraduate and graduate studies, the pre-university courses added basic sports-related vocabulary items in addition to fundamental Chinese knowledge and skills. The course length is one semester or one academic year.
Main Courses: Speaking, Listening, Comprehensive Chinese, Extensive Reading, Newspaper Reading, Writing, Chinese Culture, Grammar, Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Painting, etc.
(II) Program B: Wushu and TCM Programs
BSU offers courses such as Chinese Martial Arts (Wushu), Chinese Martial Arts for Health Preservation, Sanda Courses, TCM Massage and Sport Rehabilitation. The course length is one semester or one academic year. A non-degree certificate will be awarded to those who get a passing grade at the end of the course at BSU.
II. Eligibility
(I) High school graduates with ages ranging from 18 to 55;
(II) Non-Chinese citizens who hold a foreign passport and comply with the relevant regulations set by the “Document No. 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC";
(III) Are physically and mentally healthy; meet the physical examination requirements for Chinese Visa and Residence Permit in China as well as the physical examination requirements for BSU programs so as to ensure their study and life in China;
(IV) Have no record of discipline violation, public security punishment or criminal conduct; show respect towards China and behave well; comply with Chinese laws and university regulations, and respect Chinese customs.
III. Application & Enrollment Procedure
(I) Application ways
BSU offers online applications. Applicants should register at http://121.194.16.14/eedepot.aspx in order to fill in the registration information and upload the application materials as required.
1. Materials for Application:
1) Copy of first passport page;
2) Original and certified copy of highest diploma in Chinese or English;
u If all the above application materials are not in Chinese or English, notarized copies in Chinese or English must be provided.
u There is no need to mail paper application materials at the application stage
2. Application Period:
Spring Semester: The application should be submitted between 2022.12.01 to 2022.12.31;
Fall Semester: The application should be submitted between 2023.02.01 to 2023.06.01.
(II) Materials Review and Assessment
BSU will review the application materials and organize video interviews. The admission results will be determined based on the review of the materials and the ranking of the interviews.
During the review period, applicants can log into the BSU International Student Service System http://121.194.16.14/eedepot.aspx to view application updates, progress and relevant notices.
(III) Admission
Applicants who pass the materials review and the interview/assessments will be informed via email by late January (spring semester) and early July (fall semester) each year.
BSU shall issue the Admission Notice and the form for “Visa Application for Study in China” (JW201/202 Form) and other relevant admission documents to applicants which pass the review. It usually takes 4-5 weeks to mail out the materials after the admission process is completed.
Please apply for an X1 or X2 Visa (study visa) at the Chinese Embassy (Consulate) with the BSU Admission Notice and the form for “Visa Application for Study in China” (JW202/201 Form).
(IV) Registration
New students should register in person at BSU within the time specified in the Admission Notice. The counselor of the school will get in touch with the students before registering. When registering, the students are required to present the Admission Notice, JW201/202 Form in original, passport, application materials in original, and four 2-inch certificate photos on white background. Those who already did a physical examination in their home country are required to provide the original medical examination records.
(V) Second Review
BSU will conduct a second review on the application materials after admission, and is entitled to withdraw its decision of admission and disqualify any applicant in case of any unconformity between the applicant and their Admission Notice, student information and other materials, or other violations such as fraud or committing irregularities.

V. Scholarships
(I) Chinese Government Scholarship
Applicants for the Chinese Government Scholarship are required to apply at the website specified by China Scholarship Council. Please visit https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn for the detailed application process.
(II) International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship (Confucius Institute Scholarship)
Applicants for this Scholarship are required to apply at the Center of the Language Education and Cooperation. Please visit http://ccsp.chinese.cn/. The final admission results shall be subject to those published by the Center of the Language Education and Cooperation.
(III) Beijing Government Scholarship
Applicants shall apply to BSU for the scholarship after admission and will be evaluated according to BSU’s scholarship evaluation method after BSU receives and reviews the application materials.
(IV) BSU Belt and Road Scholarship
Applicants shall apply at BSU for the scholarship along with their application for the program and will be evaluated according to BSU’s scholarship evaluation method after BSU receives the application materials.

[About Visa Application]
Admitted students shall apply for a Chinese study visa at the Chinese Embassy, using the Admission Notice and the form for “Visa Application for Study in China” (JW201/202 Form). Students who will study for more than 180 days shall apply for an X1 visa, and change it to a residence permit at BSU’s Office for International Exchange and Cooperation within 30 days upon arrival in China; students who will study for less than 180 days may apply for an X2 visa.
[About Medical Insurance]
Ministry of Education of China stipulates that international students in China must purchase medical insurance offered by Chinese company during their stay in the territory of China. Students can purchase the required medical insurance in their home country, or purchase it from the Student Affairs Department of Beijing Sport University during the registration process. Students are unable to register without purchasing medical insurance as required.
